Certified Professional Dog Trainer—Knowledge Assessed

Dawn has always had a deep love and innate connection to most animals but especially dogs. From bringing home strays to helping neighbors with their dogs, she always tries her best to assist any animal in need.

She began her adult career with animals in 2013 when she was boarding and walking dogs in Downtown San Diego. Instinctively, she trained the dogs to have better obedience in addition to performing tricks while they were in her care. This prompted her clients to suggest that she look into becoming a dog trainer. Inspired by her clients, she did some research and found the non-profit organization Little Angel Service Dogs. She completed an apprenticeship with Little Angel Service Dogs by exceeding the hours required, scoring highly on her test, and training an autism assistance dog to graduation in 2018. After seeing the growing need in her community by visiting various dog parks, she immediately decided to open her services to pet dogs while she worked part-time in the hospitality industry.

Very eager to expand her knowledge of pet healthcare, she applied and was hired as a Veterinary Assistant at American Animal Hospital while continuing to board and train dogs in her free time. After being in her position for only 1.5 years, she was proudly promoted to Practice Manager. This increased her overall affinity, appreciation, and knowledge of dogs and their health and also her ability to communicate effectively with clients. She recently sat before the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers where her knowledge was tested and proven thus becoming a Certified Professional Dog Trainer—Knowledge Assessed. She now devotes all of her time to providing a safe, loving home to dogs that she boards and helping to translate dog behavior to owners that would like to better understand their dog.
